What to do in Santa Marta in 3 days — Complete itinerary
Discover the best 3-day itinerary in Santa Marta: beaches, history, gastronomy and how to get around on an electric bike.

Santa Marta is much more than a coastal city. It is history, nature, gastronomy and adventure on every corner. If you have 3 days to visit, this itinerary is designed to make the most of your time.
Day 1: Historic Center and first beach
Start your trip exploring the Historic Center, the oldest city in Colombia. Its cobblestone streets, the Cathedral and Parque de los Novios are must-sees. Walk without rush, take photos and enjoy the Caribbean vibe.
At noon, head to El Rodadero. The most famous beach in Santa Marta awaits with golden sand and calm waters. Grab fried fish with patacones at one of the beachfront restaurants.
To close the day, nothing beats watching the sunset from Santa Marta Bay. If you want to move fast between each spot, renting an electric bike is the best option: you get everywhere with no traffic or stress.
Day 2: Taganga and Playa Blanca
Day two is for the sea. Taganga, a picturesque fishing village just 15 minutes from downtown, is the starting point to take a boat to Playa Blanca. Its crystal-clear waters and white sand will make you feel in paradise.
If you prefer adventure, you can ride the coast on an electric bike to Bahía Concha. The road has spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea and several stops for amazing photos.
Return downtown in the afternoon and stroll along the International Marina. It is the perfect place for a dinner with sea views.
Day 3: Nature and gastronomy
Dedicate your last day to exploring the surroundings. Tayrona National Natural Park (even if we don't enter, the viewpoints from the entrance are unmissable) or a gastronomic tour through the center are excellent options.
Don't leave without trying ceviche, arepas de huevo and a raspado from the street vendors. Street food in Santa Marta is spectacular.
Before you go, take one last electric bike ride through the Historic Center at sunset. It is the perfect farewell to a city you will never forget.
